What is the x-value for the equation?

To expand on this, because 17 is being added on the left side you now need to subtract 17 from both sides in order to get rid of it. After that you will only have left 5x=7. Because 5 and x are being multiplied you need to divide 5 from both sides. That will leave x alone on one side and 1.4 on the other. So x=1/4

24-17=7

7/5=1.4

x=1.4
