My work: Your can easily solve this problem by hand by taking -3 and subtracting it by 5. When done with this you get your final answer which would be; Y = 2. This problem can easily achieved in 2 steps.
My Numerical work:
1. Y - 3 = 5
Take 3 and subtract with 5 (Simplify)
2. Y = 2
