The Israelite's were enslaved for more than 400 years. Israel's history has a series of migrations, including Abraham's journey to Canaan, the exodus from Egypt, the Babylonian captivity etc.

The exile played a huge role in defining the Israelite's identity. When they finally reclaimed Israel after years they made sure they’d never lose that land again.
