A molecule is a pure substance that can be separated chemically but cannot be separated physically that is made up of two or more different Atoms

When two or more atoms are combined chemically they form a pure substance in neutral form called a Molecule.

  • A molecule can contain atoms of the same kind. This we see in N2 (nitrogen) , O3 (ozone) O2(Oxygen)
  • A molecule can contain two different atoms. For example H2O( water molecule with two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom).
  • A molecule can contain many thousands of atoms. Example in proteins and DNA.
