Length (L): w + 5 ⇒(w + 5) + 3 = w + 8

width (w): w ⇒ (w) + 2 = w + 2

Area (A) = L x w

A = (w + 5)w

A = w² + 5w

*******************************

A + 46 = (w + 8)(w + 2)

(w² + 5w) + 46 = w² + 10w + 16

5w + 46 = 10w + 16

46 = 5w + 16

30 = 5w

6 = w

Length (L): w + 5 = (6) + 5 = 11

Answer: width = 6 cm, length = 11 cm
