The points that are on each side of the prime meridian are called poles.

The prime meridian (all of the meridians as well) are stretching from one pole to another. So their starting/ending points are on the Northern Pole and on the Southern Pole. All of the meridians have this starting and ending points, and those points are the ones were all the meridians are touching themselves.
