The solid parts are blood cells including platelets, red cells, and white cells. The liquid part or semi-liquid part is a clear substance called plasma. Plasma actually makes up more than 50% of the total blood in a human body. Without plasma, our blood would be a VERY fluid substance that would flow exactly like water without any consistency or thickness with only added red dye (hemoglobin). You could even say that plasma is THE substance that separates blood from water, not accounting for the hemoglobin obviously.
