Why is there so much emphasis on education in the modern world

Because knowledge and technology have vastly increased. To be educated, in the 21st century, requires FAR more knowledge than in the past. A tremendous number of new discoveries and inventions have been made in many field. and yah for a person to survive this modern world ... education is the basic unit ... and for good jobs ... ppl should be extra knowledgeable these days
