1. It declares The United States of America as a separate, sovereign nation.
2. It gave the American citizens Freedom and Liberty. This is what America is known for. It is a charter of freedom. It granted life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It granted the right to live, the right to be free, and the right to follow your beliefs. These were all not available during English Colonial rule.
