The formula p = nc - e  gives the profit p when a number of items n are each sold at a cost c and expenses e are subtracted. If p = 3750, n = 3000 and e = 900, what is the value of c?

p = nc - e
Plug in 3,750 for p, 3,000 for n, and 900 for e.
3,750 = 3,000c - 900
Add 900 to both sides.
4,650 = 3,000c
Divide both sides by 3,000.
c = 1.55
