please help me figure this out I need to explain it too

14y = 31 + 5

y = (31 + 5) / 14

Rearrange the sum to have y on its own in one side
14y = 31 + 5
14y = 36
Then find out what 1 y equals
Y = 36/14
Y = 2.57...
