remittitur refers to the act of lowering the punishment that is imposed by the juries during a trial case. Remittur tend to happen because one of two possibilities. The first one is that the defendant is not possess enough wealth to pay the fine, the second one is when the damage that being done by defendant's action is lower than the punishment.
