First prove that triangles ABD and ACE are similar (AA).

Then using corresponding sides of similar triangles are proportional, we can form the proportionality equation

AE/AC = AD/AB

=> AE/(7000+5600) = 5200/5600

Cross multiply,

AE=5200/5600*(12600)

=11700 feet

The triangles are similar (proof of that is a different question), so the ratio of horizontal side to long side is the same for each.

$(5200\,ft)/(5600\,ft)=\frac{\text{??}}{7000\,ft+5600\,ft}\\\\(12600\,ft)\cdot(52)/(56)=\text{??}=11700\,ft$

The distance from A to E is 11,700 feet.
