This is a dimensional analysis problem:

`\frac{1 \text{ hour}}{55 \text{ miles}}*310\text{ miles} = (310)/(55)\text{ hours} *\frac{60 \text{ minutes}}{1 \text{ hours}}\approx 338 \text{ minutes}`

A lot of stuff we do is shorthand dimensional analysis, so it written out like this often seems unintuitive but this is basically how you go from miles per hour to minutes, in a somewhat rigorous manner.
