Y+4(2y+3)=15

y+8y+12=15

(Simplfy)

9y+12=15

(Subtract 12 from 15)

9y=3

(Divide 9 from both side - 9y/9=3/9)

y=1/3

Answer : 1/3 or 0.3 repeating

First, we have to distribute the 4 into the parentheses

y + 4(2y + 3) = 15

y + 8y + 12 = 15

now we can combine like terms and solve for y

9y + 12 = 15

9y = 3

y = 3/9

y = 1/3

hope this helped
