I know that Webster did support the compromise of 1850. He gave one of his most famous speeches so he could say he supported it.

The correct answer is Henry Clay.

Henry Clay was one of the people who actually drafted the Compromise of 1850. Just like he did with the Missouri Compromise, Clay was just trying to bring a peaceful solution to the tensions between pro slavery and anti slavery states within Congress. Ultimately, the Compromise of 1850 passed in Congress and essentially delayed the Civil War for another decade and a half.
