Read the following sentence.

As far as I know, because I wasn’t there, but I did hear about it, I think that the student was in trouble because she did not ask the teacher or someone for permission.

Syntax is how the words and phrases are placed in a sentence. Clearly the syntax of this sentence is a bit out or order. The correct syntax of the sentence would look something like this:

I wasn’t there, but I did hear about it. As far as I know, that student was in trouble because she did not ask the teacher or someone for permission.
