William,joseph,margeret,frank and jeffrey all work for the same company. frank has been there the longest, eleven years and makes the most money, three times as much as jeffrey. margeret has been there the second longest aand makes $50,000 a year. Joseph has worked there four years less than Frank and one year more than William. He makes $60,000 a year. Williams pay is twice as much as Margeret. Jeffrey has worked there three years less than William and his income is three quarters of Margerets. How much is Franks annual salary?

Let's change Jeff to Geoff so we have salaries
w, j, m, f, g

Translating into symbols, ignoring the irrelevant work histories,

f=3g

m=50000

j=60000

w=2m

g= (3/4) m

Solve for f

j seems unconnected and we can ignore w too.

f=3g = 3(3/4) m = 3(3/4) (50000) = 112500

Frank's salary is

Answer: $112,500
