The cell would cease to divide

If the enzyme that necessary for purines and pyrimidines production inhibited, the replication process for both of them would be halt. Purine and pyrimidine is needed in genetic material synthesis. Cell division involve a replication of genetic material. Since the genetic material couldn't be synthesized, cell division could not be done.
