A cone has a diameter of 8 centimeters and a height that is 4 times the diameter. Using 3.14 for pi, which of the following can be used to calculate the volume of the cone?

one over three(3.14)(32cm)2(4cm)
one over three(3.14)(32cm)2(8cm)
one over three(3.14)(4cm)2(32cm)
one over three(3.14)(8cm)2(32cm)

Answer:

C) 1/3(3.14)(4 cm)²(32 cm)

Explanation:

The formula for the volume of a cone is

V = 1/3πr²h.

The diameter of 8 cm means we have a radius of 8/2 = 4 cm.

The height is 4 times the diameter, or 4(8) = 32 cm.

This makes the third option the best one.

The formula for the volume of a cone is V=\frac{1}{3} \pi r^{2} h [/tex]. In order to find the radius, simply divide the diameter (8) by 2 and you get 4. Is is stated that the height is "4 times the diameter"; therefore, multiply 8x4 and you get 32. When you plug in all the values, you get
V=(1)/(3) (3.14)(4)^2(32).
In other words, your answer will be the C/the 3rd choice.

Hope this helped.
