Identify some of the key provisions found in the Civil Rights Acts of the 1860’s and 1870’s and why they were passed. Were they effective or ineffective and why?

Key provisions in the Civil Rights Acts of 1860s and 1870s were aimed at allowing the federal government, through the new Justice Department and through the federal courts to enforce the new civil rights. However, they were not really effective as they led to the rise of white-supremacist organizations that were opposed to black civil rights and Republican rule as well as violence aimed at suppressing black voters
