On the basis of the observation Gauguin concluded that "the United States (and Europe) had made women into artificial creations."

On Tahiti the breezes from backwoods and ocean reinforce the lungs, they expand the shoulders and hips. Neither men nor ladies are protected from the beams of the sun nor the rocks of the seashore. Together they take part in similar assignments with a similar action or a similar inactivity. There is something virile in the ladies and something feminine in the men.

Answer: there are similarities in the sexes

On the basis of Gauguin’s observation, he concluded that similarities in the sexes make the relationship easy for a man and a woman. Their state of nakedness gives their manners a natural innocence making a man and a woman are friends rather than lovers, living together in whatever life offers.
