i would use algebra to solve this:
let the amount of child ticket sold be x and the amount of adults ticket sold be 2x
so 2x•9.60+ x•6.30 = 969.00
19.2x+6.30x = 969.00
25.5 x =969.00
x=38
hence ans is 38
an alternative solution would be:
9.60×2 + 6.30 = 25.5
969.00÷25.5= 38
the methods are actually almost the same.
