when arguing and defending your claim you need to have evidence to show that you're original position on the argument isn't based off of personal bias, the point in refuting a counterclaim is to convince the reader that what you are defending is correct and the opposing claim is incorrect and by giving supporting evidence to back up your claim it will seem more believable
