How did the allies treat Germany after world war 2?

The provisions of the treaty of Versailles were meant to harm Germany, not help it. After WW2 the allies did not allow Germany to remain independent..... consider the terms of the treaty of Versailles, contrasted to the terms of the Nazi surrender ending WW2 in Europe.
