A cold wave gripped much of the United States during the first week of February 1996.  The lowest temperatures in four Ohio cities those weeks were: Cleveland ‐10 degrees F; Columbus -3 degrees F; Toledo ‐8 degrees F; Cincinnati ‐11 degrees F. What was the average lowest temperature for these cities?

Your average temperature would be -8, as -10, -8, -3, and -11 add to -32, which divides by four to become -8. This is the median.

Add up your values and divide by the number of cities. So......-32/4 = -8
