The volume of a prism is given by
V = Bh
where B is the area of the base and h is the distance between the bases.

We can substitute the given information to find B.
60 cm³ = B·(8 cm)
B = (60 cm³)/(8 cm) = (15/2) cm²

When the base is a triangle, its area is given by
B = (1/2)bh
where b is the base length and h is the height perpendicular to the base.

Once again, we can substitute the given dimensions and solve for h. We use the base area found above, and the triangle dimensions shown in the figure.
(15/2) cm² = (1/2)(5 cm)(h)
(15/2 cm²)/(5/2 cm) = h = 3 cm

The height h is 3 cm.
