Metals that conduct electricity have this property due to the presence of ‘free’ electrons in their atomic orbitals. These delocalized electrons clouds are, especially, valence electrons of the metal atoms. The electrons are able to move freely in the metallic bond lattice, when induced by an electric current or magnetic field.
