The average is the sum of the numbers divided by the number of numbers:

If the odd numbers are 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 the answer will be:

(1+3+5+7+9)/(5)

(25)/(5)
5 - 3rd number of the sequence.

The general answer (if using consecutive odd numbers) will always be the 3rd number of your sequence.

Hope it helped,

Happy homework/ study/ exam!

The average will be the third number, because the first and fifth, as well as the second and fourth, will average out to the third.
