Since nuclear power is clean, why is it not used more extensively in the United States?

Nuclear power may be clean but for the concern of people it is not recommend to use.The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Explosion and the Three Mile Island incident have affected the world greatly.Bottom line nuclear power is dangerous and can cause radiation that won't disappear until a century.
