How was disease helpful to the Europeans in the late 1400’s and early 1500’s

Disease kept Europeans from overpopulation.

It weakened the natives since they weren’t immune forcing them to trade with the Europeans as well as making their military less effective allowing the Europeans to conquer without much loss.
