Triangles PQR and FGH are similar and PQ/FG=1/4.

What is the ratio of the area of the triangle PQR to the area of triangle FGH?

A) 1/4

B) 1/2

C) 1/8

D) 1/16

Hello!

Since these triangles are similar, each side length of the smaller will have a ratio of 1/4 in relation to the larger. Therefore the area would also be A)1/4 ratio.

Similar triangles with a ratio of r in the linear dimension will have a ratio of r^2 in area. So we're looking for (1/4)^2 = 1/16, Choice D
