If x=2y=4z, express

1. x+4y+z and 2. 2x+3y+2z in terms of z, and find the value of the expression when z=2.

x = 4z


2y = 4z

Dividing both sides by two,


y = 2z

OK, part 1.


x+4y+z = 4z + 4(2z) +z = 13z

When
z=2 then
x+4y+z =13(2)=26

Part 2.


2x+3y+2z= 2(4z) +3(2z) + 2z = 16z

When
z=2 then
2x+3y+2z=16(2)=32
