Answer: The need of natural resources and the need of a new market to sell their goods.

Step-by-step explanation:

With the new technologies employed during the Industrial Revolution the production of goods was faster and easier. In order to continue with that new speed of production European countries needed more natural resources, but also new markets for selling the goods. Having these two objectives in mind European countries started looking for new colonies in other continent where they could find a solution to the previously mentioned issues.
