The answer extends the elbow. The radial never severs the posterior upper arm (triceps) and runs down the arm to the wrists and fingers. As the nerve terminates, it branches into deep and superficial sensory nerves. Therefore injury to the nerve will also cause numbness in the fingers and wrist.
