What happens when oxidation happens very quickly?

There is combustion or explosion. This is because of the oxidation reaction produces heat rapidly hence able to spark a fire. Some materials oxidize rapidly and hence their property is harness in motion/movement processes. An example is the use of fossil fuels in combustion engines.
