I'm not 100% sure but I'm somewhat sure it's D. Direct Democracy
Not A because...
town meetings meant that people were involved, thus making it more direct, rather than indirectly democratic.
Not B because...
Republicanism wasn't really introduced until after the Revolutionary War when they were drafting the Constitution.
Not C because...
New England at that time did have a representative government. With England. However, they were so far away that they did not have any actual representation, which was why they had direct democracy, so the people could decide for themselves.
