How and why does this equation -8-x=-3x equal x=4

- 8 - x = - 3x \\ - 8 = - 3x + x \\ - 8 = - 2x \\ x = - ( - 8)/( - 2) = 4
First, we add x to both sides and simplify. Then, we divide both sides by -2
