In 1885, there was a huge tension between white settlers and the native indians in joseph reading's territory which led to many death on both sides.
Forseeing unfavorable outcome, Chief joseph reading decided to conduct a 1400 mile millitary retreat to Canada which save many lives of the tribe members.
