What were the major results of the Enlightenment?

The age of enlightenment brought fourth many books, essays, scientific discoveries, and inventions, some of which are the "Principia Mathematica" by Sir Issac Newton in 1686, the lightning rod invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1752, as well as the steel roller invented by Henry Court in 1783, and many more.
