From the simple act of voting; to lobbying to affect political decisions, civic participation has a big influence on policy making and the political process in the United States. Civic participation for instance affects policy making and legislation. Elected officials’ role is to represent their constituents. As such, they make policies that are consistent with the wishes of the constituents lest they lose elections.
