The diameter of a circular cylindrical holding tank can be modeled by the function, (picture) where A is the surface area of the circular base of the tank. If the surface area of the base is 64π square feet, what is the diameter of the tank?

Plug in the area of the base to the function

d = 2\sqrt{ (A)/( \pi ) }

d = 2\sqrt{ (64 \pi )/( \pi ) }

d = 2√(64)
d = 2(8)
d = 16

The diameter is 16 feet
