The 2010 earthquake only made it worse. It left rich and poor alike without food, water, or supplies. Estimates were that 25 percent of civil servants who worked in the capital city were killed. Plus the country was still recovering from two tropical storms and two hurricanes that hit in 2008. After the Haitian people dug themselves out of the rubble and counted the dead, they realized their entire country was forever changed.
