Angle x and angle 38° are vertical angles. Vertical angles are opposite angles (non-adjacent) which are formed by two intersecting lines. Vertical angles are congruent. That means x is equal to 38°.

Angle y and angle 38° are supplementary angles. Supplementary angles are adjacent angles which add up to 180°. That means:
y + 38° = 180°
y = 180° - 38°
y = 142°

ANSWER: Second option (x = 38, y = 142)
