Rewrite

x-2y=1
y=1/2x+3

as
-x + 1
-2y = -x + 1, or y = ---------- or y = (1/2)x - 1/2
-2

y = (1/2)X + 3

Since the slopes are the same (1/2), and the y-inercepts different (-1/2 and 3), the system represents two parallel lines with NO solution.
