Verticle asymtote of the function f(x)=3/x+5

Please enclose that fraction (3/x) or (3 / [x+5] ) inside parentheses, so that y our readers will know which function you mean.

If it's f(x) = (3/x) + 5, the vert. asy. is the line x=0.

If it's f(x) = 3 / (x+5), the vert asy. is the line x = -5.

See? Those parentheses are important; they make a big difference.
