April can bicycle 52 miles in the same time as it takes her to walk 12 miles. she can ride 10 mph faster than she can walk. how fast can she walk?

Let w represent April's walking speed.
time = distance/speed
52/(w+10) = 12/w

52w = 12w + 120 . . . . . . multiply by w(w+10)
40w = 120
w = 120/40 = 3

April can walk 3 mph.
