The Louisiana Purchase doubled the size of the United States when it was purchased from France in 1803. This land was bought by president Thomas Jefferson and helped America grow tremendously.

Buying this territory increased America's size by 828,000,000 miles. This territory would help to create several different states we have today. Fifteen different states can draw their routes back to the Louisiana Purchase including Missouri, Arkansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Iowa.
