In emergency medicine, finding someone unconscious is an emergency situation. The initial step in dealing with an emergency situation like this is survey the scene or assess the scene for safety. After which, ask the person with the phrases "hey hey, are you okay?" then call for help. If the person has no pulse and has no spontaneous breathing, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
