The American federal system recognizes strictly limited federal involvement by creating Dual Federalism. Dual federalism is the system that was created with the US Constitution because of the failure of the Articles of Confederation. This means that the states would have their power without interference from the federal government at the same time that the federal government has its powers that do not interfere with the powers of the state.
